Gelatin desserts, such an innocuous Looking and sounding little item on the menu. Our thanksgivings and Christmas were always accompanied by this sweet little treat. The holidays would not be the same without it.🙊💕
There were two that stand out in my memory. The first is one my mother always made that had strawberry jello, with strawberries in it, strawberry banana jello, with bananas in it and lemon jello, with cream cheese or whipped cream in it....each of these flavors were made as layers. Another that has become traditional is similar except it's made with cranberries and cranberry, jello, chopped pecans , cream cheese and lemon jello and raspberries with raspberry jello. Our dear Eric made the cranberry jello for Thanksgiving 2023, his last one with us...but neglected to put it in layers. It still tasted good.
I got a glass jelly (as we insist on calling jell-o in the UK) mould from a vintage fair a while back. It's a very pleasing object but hardly ever used - time it got an outing I think!
I have a brain mold. You oil the mold to help with the release. One box of peach and one box of watermelon jello, boiling water, cold water, and a can of evaporated milk. It's a great brain color, and the oil gives it a bit of a sheen. It tastes great.
I love this so much! That pink is gorgeous and my 90 year young mother-in-law would love this. You are inspiring me to bring out the old molds. The only thing I’ve ever tried is our thanksgiving cranberry sauce, which I don’t think held very well.
So happy that you are inspired! I am having so much fun exploring all old gelatin recipes—we tried a cola and lemon one that was so freshing—sharing that soon!

Yay! I’ve collected various molds too, but this is the first time I’ve put them to work—highly recommend!
